Native American, American Midwest and Southeast, Mississippian, ca. 11th to 14th century CE. A hand-built pottery jar displaying 4 strap handles connecting rim to shoulder and finely incised, circular motifs embellishing handles and rim. Sitting upon a round yet stable base, the vessel's impressively thin walls swell to a spherical body and then taper to a brief, sloped shoulder, a short neck, and a gently flared rim. Size: 6.8" Diameter x 5.5" H (17.3 cm x 14 cm)

Repaired with break lines visible. Small area of loss on shoulder and losses along break lines. Nicks, chips, and abrasions, throughout. Areas of fire-darkening. Nice preservation of incised detail on handles and rim.
