Western / Central Europe, Visigoth / Medieval Period, 9th to 12th century CE. A fine collection of electrum belt buckles and medallion fittings with a gold quality of 46% (equivalent to 11k+) and 26% silver! The pieces are likely from the same belt, the leather or cloth strap long since disintegrated - and these piece have been reassembled on a modern leather strap to demonstrate how they may have originally been arranged. The strap end and buckle are stamped and This is an incredible piece of wearable artwork and displayed wealth, which during this period was most often in the form of jewelry- electrum, an alloy of precious metals would have belonged to a wealthy individual. Size: 43" L x 1.125" W (109.2 cm x 2.9 cm)

Condition
Metal appliques are ancient, and leather strap is modern. Fissures, abrasions, and chips to fittings. Areas of green patina. Appliques are sewn to a leather band and then adhered to the larger leather strap with glue for display purpose. Section of appliques are coming loose and could be re-glued.
