Description
Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Maya, Early to Late Classic Period, ca. 250 to 900 CE. A hand-carved greenstone celt of slender form with a rectangular body, a rounded butt end, and a tapered blade edge. Celts were used in ceremonial and ritual contexts and were often found in Maya burial caches. Size: 5.7" L x 1.3" W (14.5 cm x 3.3 cm)
