Description
BRITISH EMBROIDERED NEEDLEWORK PICTURE, wool and silk on silk, still-life depicting an arrangement of fruit on a table or flat surface, featuring a bird perched on a branch and a basket holding strawberries and cherries, a few ink markings next to the edge of the table/surface, edges with applied cut-out wallpaper border. Housed under glass in original molded frame, later paper backing with applied original framer's label for Charles Prow Corrall, who was a carver, gilder, glazier, looking-glass, and picture frame maker, located on Saint Margaret's Bank, Rochester, Kent, England. First half 19th century. 17 1/4" x 15 1/8" sight, 21 1/2" x 19 1/4" OA.

Condition
Thread in very good visual condition with light toning, some light fading and fugitive color, and minimal losses, silk ground with a few tears including a sizable horizontal tear above the composition, frame in fair condition with flakes and chips to molding and finishes, some cracks, a sizable chip to gilt inner edge, separation at corners having proper top left corner being loose and unstable. Not examined out of frame.
