COLLINS, JOHN J., Collins IX. An Exhibition and Sale of 47 Persian Piled Weavings. Newburyport 2007, pl. 45 *** EILAND JR., MURRAY L.(ed.), A World of Oriental Carpets & Textiles. Washington, D.C. 2003, fig. 28, p. 140 *** TANAVOLI, PARVIZ, Shahsavan. Flachgewebe aus dem Iran. Herford 1985, no. 175
Knotted Shahsavan bags are far more rarely encountered than the sumakh or kilim bags woven by the tribes. The field of this knotted bag face is covered in a diamond lattice of fine white lines which encloses small multi-coloured crosses composed of five squares on a ground in varying colours. In the narrow white border, diamonds combine into a design chain. Collins and Eiland have published complete khorjins of this group. – Slight signs of age and wear, good overall condition.
