Description
Messerschmitt 110 Piston From 1st Shot Down Over England In World War 2. Pictures of this plane appeared in a 1942 Life Magazine. The piston is numbered "F150" and measures 5 7/8" X 2 1/8" High. The piston is accompanied by a 1945 letter and small hand lettered sign displayed with the piston for several years. The information in the letter about the plane reads, "That piston was out of the first Messerschmitt 110 that was shot down over England. The airplane was taken to consolidated Vultee in California. One engine was put on test at Wright Field and the other was brought to Williamsport for examination. There are pictures of it in Life Magazine in 1942." Condition - Good condition, shows wear.
