Papinius Statius was a 1st-century Roman poet remembered for his epic poems Thebaid, Silvae and Achilleid. These works tell famous stories of mythology and iconic heroes – namely Oedipus and Achilles. These poems were known to have had significant influence on Juvenal as well as into the 12th-century on Chaucer, Dante, and Boccaccio as well as Dryden and Grotius in the Renaissance.
This 1671 edition was published by Hackiana in Leiden, collected and edited by Johannes Veenhusen.
