Description
A pair of two Nayarit seated figures. One is a seated musician with the proper left leg over the proper right. The figure holds a shell musical instrument. The mouth is horizontal and slightly open with white teeth bared. The other is a woman figure also holding an instrument and has ear ornamentation. Reddish ceramic with pigments and manganese. 200 BCE to 200 CE. Mexico. Smallest: 15" x 10". Largest: 15 1/4" x 8".Condition: Good, with minor breaks and some surface loss due to abrasions.Provenance: From the Boeckman Collection. Dallas, Texas. Acquired 9/17/1968. From the collection of Jules Berman Kahlua. San Diego, California.
