East Asia, China, Ming Dynasty, ca. 1368 to 1644 CE. A fine set of 3 hand-built pottery artifacts from Ming-era China, 2 bowls and a document weight. The document weight is of columnar form with tapering walls, a perforated upper tab, a rough base to grip parchment, and an intricate floral scene on each of its 4 walls. The first bowl is of shallow form with a squat foot, relatively tall walls, and 4 minimalist crabs surrounding a Chinese character in the center. The larger bowl exhibits elaborate floral motifs along the exterior walls and an enormous flower within the basin. Size of largest: 7.8" W x 1.375" H (19.8 cm x 3.5 cm)

Each piece has light abrasions, small nicks, and fading to glaze pigment commensurate with age, otherwise intact and very good. Nice preservation to blue-on-white motifs.
