Description
East Asia, China, Ming Dynasty, ca. 1368 to 1644 CE. A set of 2 hand-built pottery jars with apple-shaped bodies, planar bases, and thick rims. The petite vessel is covered in darkened celadon glaze that was yellow or green at one time, and the larger is adorned with black-painted fish and water motifs around the shoulder. Size of largest: 5.6" W x 4.9" H (14.2 cm x 12.4 cm); smaller: 3.375" W x 2.625" H (8.6 cm x 6.7 cm)

Condition
Larger vessel has pressure fissures on handles and rim consistent with age and not repairs. Both pieces have abrasions, fading to pigment, and light encrustations, otherwise intact and very good. Nice craquelure to remaining glaze pigment. Larger vessel has a National Philippines Museum label attached to one side.
