Charles Rogers (1911-1987) untitled rocks in river, watercolor, signed in lower left, good condtion, mat appears to have some water damage in upper right, painting has not been examined outside of frame, size: 11 x 16.5. A painter and art educator, Charles B Rogers (1911-1987) was known for his airy landscapes of the American West, often with pastel hues executed in oil. He was born in Great Bend, Kansas, and studied at the National Academy of Design; Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas under Birger Sandzen; the California College of Arts and Crafts; and with Dong Kingman and Jay Connaway.From 1947 to 1943, he taught at Lindsborg College, and from 1954 to 1966, he was Manager and Assistant Director of the Huntington Hartford Museum in Los Angeles. After that, he was a Professor of Art at Kansas State University.
