Description
This original watercolor by artist Charles Rogers is titled "The Coast". In good condition, the image meausures 11.5" x 14.25" and is signed by the artist in the lower left corner of the piece. Winning bids are packaged and shipped by UPS. Shipping estimates are available upon request. Born in Great Bend, Kansas Jan. 27, 1911 and died Salina, Kansans Dec. 10, 1987. He was a painter, teacher, etcher, lithographer and dry pointer. He studied at the National Academy of Design; Bethany College where he earned a BFA; the California College of Arts & Crafts where he earned an MFA; and the Jay Connoway School of Art.
He painted the mural, Autumn Colors, in the Council Grove Post Office in 1941. He taught at Bethany College, Lindsborg from 1947-53, and was manager and assistant director of the Huntington Hartford Foundation, Pacific Palisades, CA from 1954 until he returned to Kansas in 1966. He headed the art program at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina for a year before settling in Ellsworth.
