Early Connecticut Turnpike and Bridge Stock Share, 1818
A stock share, signed "Gurnsey Baths" as Justice of the Peace. 1p of a bifolium, measuring 7.5" x 9.25", Durham, Connecticut, dated April 23, 1818.Flattened folds with light edge toning. Foxing throughout. Some staining from the seals. Boldly signed.
The document certifies that Ezra Camp is the owner of share No. 269 in the United Company of the Connecticut River Turnpike and White River Bridge from May 17, 1806. Signed by Treasurer William Leverett. Below this certification is transfer information, recording that the share was transferred to Worthington G. Chauncey by Camp's estate Executor, Ozias Camp II, on April 20, 1818. Signed and sealed by Ozias Camp II. With a large embossed paper seal at the upper left.
