Partial-printed document signed, measuring 13" x 16.5", ca. 1783, Newport, RI. A document solidifying the transfer of land to the Rogers family and declaring them as heirs of one Abial Tripp. Reads in part: "…assigns forever, one certain lot of land lying and being in the town of Newport aforesaid containing six acres and one fourth of an acre be the same more or less…". Signed in bottom right corner by the family of William Rogers of Philadelphia and Daniel Rogers of Newport, with the party totaling 15 signers in all. Signatures are accentuated by red wax next to the individual's name. Verso details the signing of several witnesses on various occasions throughout 1783 and 1784. Expected creases and folds, with areas of soiling, foxing, and staining in places. Overall, very good condition.
