North America, Mexico, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. "JB" mark on verso of cross pendant. A fine pair of silver pendants accompanied by a leather belt. Strung on a slender strand of animal hide, the first pendant is in the form of a maskette divided vertically with one side featuring a skull and the other flesh. The other pendant features a Damascus steel cross skillfully adorned with a design resembling woodgrain and attached to an elaborate silver backing with a suspension loop. Last, the belt boasts beautiful, tooled decoration of floral motifs, a nickel silver loop, and an iron nickel alloy buckle with relief spiraling designs. Size of largest (belt): 42.7" L x 1.5" W (108.5 cm x 3.8 cm); quality of silver: skull: 95.5%; cross: 94.5%; weight of maskette and cross: 33.1 grams
