Mexico, 20 November 1848 The new borders created by the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo necessitated the creation of new customs offices. For example, Article 4 moves an office from Nacogdoches to along the Rio Grande, with "sitios de vigilancia" at Guerrero, Nuevo Monterey (at a ranch located across from Laredo), Monclova and San Vicente. Article 6 transfers the responsibilities of a customs house in Taos, NM (now very deep into United States territory) to locations including Tucson, AZ (not yet ceded by the Gadsden Purchase). 3 copies in OCLC, and none traced at auction.
