William White (1747-1836) Clergyman. White was the first Protestant Episcopal bishop of Philadelphia. was consecrated as the bishop for the Pennsylvania diocese in 1786, and he served as the Protestant Episcopal Church's presiding bishop from 1795 until his death. He was Chaplain of the Continental Congress, 1777-1789 and chaplain of the U.S. Senate. 5” x 6 ¾” autograph letter signed, no place, November 30, 1829. “…I have recd …a letter…it was accompanied by a letter to him from Bp. Bowen, declaring his entire satisfaction with yr character & with the faithful services of said Mr Vaupelt….”
