Description
Marinus Willett (1740-1830) Soldier, politician. Willett served as the Mayor of New York City from 1807 to 1808. Willett is best known for his actions during the American Revolution, where he served as an important Patriot leader in colonial New York before enlisting in the Continental Army and serving in numerous campaigns in the Revolutionary War throughout the Northwest. 7 ¾” x 5 ½” partially printed document signed twice, City and County of New York, May 3, 1790. The document is a claim in behalf of the city, signed in the text, “Marinus Willett” and the conclusion, “M. Willett Alderman.”
