Resolution that John Hope Smith accept a plate of 200 guineas value as a tribute to his outstanding service during which the 'town has been greatly encreased and improved, the Condition of the people ameliorated, the ground work of education laid and persons and properties fully protected'. April 7th 1822, signed by fellow officers, one large sheet folded, integral blank; John Hope Smith, late Governor in Chief of the British Forts and Settlements on the Gold Coast of Africa...
