Description
This is a nice map of Western Africa -- from today's Mauratina, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea to Sierra Leone. This area was the heart of the African Slave trade of the time. Great deal of detail is provided for topography, rivers, and settlements. The material was compiled by Jean Baptiste Durant who was was the director of the French Trading Company on the island of St. Louis from 1785-86. This is the British edition of the map, published by R Philips.

Good. Nice impression on thicker paper with issued folds with two small splits. Slight toning, foxing and finger soiling. Trimmed close to right margin.
