London: R. Havell, 1833. Hand-colored engraving with aquatint and etching, on J. Whatman watermarked paper, dated 1834. Engraved, printed, and colored by R. Havell after J.J. Audubon’s watercolor. 38 3/8 x 25 5/8 in. (97 x 65 cm). Edges slightly trimmed, very light wear in same; light mat burn; repaired short closed tear, top left edge; a few scattered light spots. In mat and in frame, 42 1/2 x 31 3/4 in. (108 x 81 cm). Low, p. 108
Plate CLXII from Audubon's The Birds of America (London, 1827-38). "Painting and plate depict two birds in a Pond-apple Tree. Painted in the Florida Keys in 1832. In Audubon's day this species bred in the Florida Keys; today it is accidental in south Florida. The bird was named for Princess Zenaide, wife of the eminent ornithologist, Prince Charles Lucien Bonaparte." (Susanne M. Low, A Guide to Audubon's Birds of America, p. 108)
