This Woven Textile Portrait of U. S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt measures about 7.5" x 12.75" (by sight), decorative silvered framed and under clear Plexiglas to an overall size of 9" x 14.5". Title woven into textile reads; "Franklin D. Roosevelt - President of the United States - TEXTILE DEPARTMENT, CLEMSON COLLEGE, S.C." Mechanically woven in the style of a Stevensgraph, label or coverlet. The textile itself is in a period wood frame with silver painted surface. The wonderful portrait likeness demonstrates the accomplished skill of the college department and by its origin must be relatively scarce. Original framer's label on the reverse, "Durham's Studio" of Latrobe, PA. It is unclear whether this was a student project, an advertisement for the Textile Department, or something the school sold. Either way, it is a rare impressive woven portrait, ready for display.
