Comanche Beaded Hide Moccasins
fourth quarter 19th century
thread and sinew-sewn on soft, thick hide; beaded lanes of cut beads line the sole, vamps, tongue, and cuffs; a line of brass tacks adorn the center of the vamps
length 10-3/4 inches
The last pair in the row, probably Comanche, resembles the Osage-style moccasin being made in Indian Territory around the turn of the century. (Hanson 1994: 68)
