A rare first edition of "Revolution and Other Essays," written by Jack London (American, 1876 to 1916) and published by The MacMillan Company in 1910. Enveloped in its original maroon cloth cover with gilt lettering, the codex is comprised of 309 pages containing 13 non-fiction essays on socialism. These essays are entitled: "Revolution," "The Somnambulists," "The Dignity of Dollars," "Goliah," "The Golden Poppy," "The Shrinkage of the Planet," "The House Beautiful," "The Gold Hunters of the North," "Foma Gordyeeff," "These Bones Shall Rise Again," "The Other Animals," "The Yellow Peril," and "What Life Means to Me." Size: 5.3" L x 1.4" W x 7.6" H (13.5 cm x 3.6 cm x 19.3 cm)

Born John Griffith Chaney, Jack London was an American novelist, journalist, and social activist who became one of the first American authors to gain international celebrity status. Considered an innovator of science fiction, London was a passionate advocate of unionization, workers' rights, and socialism. He is most famous for writing "The Call of the Wild" and "White Fang," both set in the Klondike Gold Rush which London joined at the age of 21 in 1897.
