The French street artist known as C215 has quickly become a renowned stencil artist. His nickname derives from the cell number of the prison in which he was once locked up. C215 (Christian Guemy) has been creating street art for over 20 years. He paints, draws and stencils. The stencils allow him to paint street art portraits in often unauthorised places. These stencils are retouched with the use of markers. C215 also started using spray-painting techniques from the very beginning. Christian Guemy believes that graffiti focuses on a name marking a territory and that street art puts art in the perfect place. His whole approach focuses on creating portraits of people such as the elderly, child beggars, refugees and others, and is based on the desire to present and draw attention to those we often forget to recognise in life.
