Description

The Schneeberg Miners Parade, 65-piece figural set. In the Erzgebirge of the southeastern section of Germany, today the German Democratic Republic, the miners belonged to guilds which fostered the tradition of honest work. Feeling themselves important members of the mining profession, the workers organized into units and wore appropriate holiday dress for special events and occasions. This parade in particular is led by the Captain of the miners on horseback. Also of note, no two faces or expressions are the same on any piece. The average dimensions of the pieces is approx. 7 3/4" tall, 2 1/2" wide, and 3 1/4" deep; with the horseback figural being approx. 11" high, 3" wide, 7 1/2" deep.

Condition

good to very good used condition - see photos. Some small pieces are broken and/or detached- we have not tried to match these parts up to the individual marchers.
