Description
1960, SWISS: A wonderfully whimsical four-piece auto-mechanical orchestra built by Paul Zwahen in Switzerland. Paul's characters are mostly inspired by Swiss folklore: accordion players, country musicians, rural cheesemakers, flag throwers, etc. The music, taken from popular charts, plays a leading role in his characters, and in order to obtain the quality of sound which compares to that of real musicians, Paul has created his own sound recording studio for 8-track stereo cassettes. Paul's attention to detail can be seen in the ensemble of four musicians we have in this auction. Dressed as clowns, all four musicians play their instruments, fingers and hands move, heads move, and all the time being supported by an 8-track recording feeding stereo speakers in the bases of two figures. An amazing musical automata that could be arranged in a display of your choosing. CONSIDERATIONS: The four characters are in very good condition, clothing clean, hands and face paint is remarkably good, and all four automations currently work. The display comes with an 8-track player with a bunch of prerecorded music, and with the original stands you have the two speakers. A wonderful display of motion and sound that could fit thousands of instillations. This is not a standard shippable item and will require 3rd party shipping or pickup arrangements to be made. Condition: (Very Good). Dimensions: Largest: 18" x 18" x 65".
