Elvis Presley's Personally Owned and Worn 2.25ct Black Star Sapphire, Diamond and 14K Yellow Gold Ring Given to Sam Thompson W/LOA and Letter From Priscilla Presley - This ring was personally owned and worn by Elvis Presley, and is made of solid 14k yellow gold with a 2.25ct black star sapphire and three diamond accents to one side. The ring was eventually given by Elvis to Sam Thompson, who was a close friend and personal bodyguard. Elvis was quite the generous man and often gave his jewelry and other personal affects to friends and family at the slightest comment or admiration of a piece, and it is not surprising that he would give a piece such as this to a trusted confidante. The ring comes with a letter of authenticity from Thompson detailing his account of when Elvis gave him this piece while on tour in 1976, shortly after he and Linda Thompson broke up. Thompson recalls that Elvis and his crew flew to Las Vegas for an engagement from December 2-12, and it was during that time that Elvis gave him the ring. The letter states in part, "Elvis told me regardless of his relationship with Linda, he wanted me to remain with him and I told him I wanted to stay.
