Elvis Presley's Personally Owned 3.90ctw Black Star Sapphire, 1.50ctw Diamond and 14K Yellow Gold Ring Given to Alan Fortas W/LOA and Photo - This massive black star sapphire, diamond and 14k yellow gold ring was personally owned and worn by Elvis Presley. The ring has an ornate barked gold design and is set with an approximately 3.00ct black star sapphire along with 0.90ctw black star sapphire accents and 1.50ctw diamonds. Elvis was known to wear black star sapphires as he believed they brought favor, peace, and protected against envy. Elvis eventually gave this ring to Memphis Mafia member Alan Fortas, with whom he was a very close friend since childhood. Fortas worked for Elvis from 1958 until just after the 1968 Comeback Special. Alan was one of Elvis' closest confidantes, serving as a bodyguard and personal assistant.
