Calvin Coolidge TLS on Appointment of Representatives for Economic Conference

1p typed, measuring 7" x 9", Washington, D.C., dated March 30, 1927. Signed "Calvin Coolidge" and addressed to Hon. Edward N. Hurley of the U.S. Shipping Board. Coolidge responds to Hurley's congratulations on appointing representatives for the 1927 Economic Conference in Geneva. Written on White House stationery, the letter has flattened mail folds and light uneven toning. Large and bold signature.

Reading in full:
"I have been particularly pleased to receive your message of congratulation on the appointment of representatives of the United States to the Economic Conference at Geneva, and thank you very sincerely indeed for your kindness in sending it. When you come to Washington I hope you will be sure to come in and see me."

The International Economic Conference, hosted by the League of Nations, was held in Geneva, Switzerland on May 4, 1927 in order to facilitate open discussion and offer potential financial negotiations between world powers. Such delegates from the United States included J.W. O'Leary, President of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Norman H. Davis, former Under Secretary of the Treasury.
