Important document signed by President Abraham Lincoln, also signed by Secretary of the Interior Caleb B. Smith. President Lincoln appoints Phineas Densmore Gurley to be a visitor of the Government Hospital for the Insane. Gurley was Chaplain of the United States Senate. He preached Lincoln's funeral sermon and was at his deathbed with Mary Todd Lincoln.
