Description
Group to feature six individual paper documents, with original Civil War related items pertaining to Henry Fraley (66th O.V.I.) including;

Folded certificate (with seal) and written oath for the appointment of Henry Fraley to the rank of captain of the Ohio 66th Infantry, dated 15 June, 1865, signed by the 26th governor of Ohio, John Brough (1811-1865) and Ohio secretary of state William Henry Smith (1833-1896). Good condition with expected age toning to paper, creases from folding, faint transposed ghost mark from seal, and light surface distress but overall with strong integrity and no damage, 16.5" x 12" in.

Lightly folded hand-written list (marked as voucher no. 1) on semi-ruled paper of ordnance store received goods, including weapons and uniform supplies (etc.) for Company A, 66th Regiment, Ohio O.V.I. dated 5th June, 1865, signed by Henry Fraley, 1st Lieutenant. Condition very good with mild age toning to paper, light creases from folding, integrity strong without damage, 12.5" x 8" in.

Two-page folded document, hand typed, listing the promotions and battle engagements of Henry Fraley during his service with Company A, 66th Regiment, Ohio O.V.I. from 1861 to 1865 during the Civil War. Good condition with mild age toning to paper, light surface distress, some staining (with debris) to outer facing page, integrity very good with no additional issues, 15" x 8.5" in. (each page).

Three additional 19th century smaller-format paper documents (receipts) associated to the Willey family of Ashtabula, Ohio, dated between 1867 to 1910, fair to good condition.

NOTE: The association between Henry Fraley and the Willey family is unclear, although the documents were passed down together and are being offered, as found, within five individual lots (please see lots #187-#191). Henry Fraley (born circa 1839 or 1840, Cumberland, Co, Pennsylvania) occupation listed as a farmer and later merchant, was enlisted on 5th November, 1861, from Campaign County, Ohio, at Urbana, as a private of Company A, 66th Regiment, Ohio Volunteers Infantry under Captain Charles E. Fulton. After several promotions in rank, he was ultimately appointed Captain of Company H. on 14 June, 1865.
