Description
SAVAGE, Eugene (1883-1978). A group of 6 Matson Menu covers. Circa 1940s. Complete set of prints representing scenes from Hawaii’s history. 21 x 13 ¼”. Unbacked. These images were commissioned by the Matson Navigation Company of Honolulu in the late 1930s as murals; they were never installed on the company’s ships due to the outbreak of World War II and instead the images were used as menu covers aboard the company’s flagship, the Lurline.
