Description
Fascinating display honoring the United States Fifth Army and its commander, General Mark W. Clark, which includes an ALS, a pair of four-star rank shoulder insignia, an embroidered patch of the United States Fifth Army, and a four-star rank pennant of a general in the United States Army, all of which are framed together to an overall size of 14.5 x 18.5. The handwritten letter, which is partially obscured by the pennant, is penned on Clark’s personal letterhead and dated September 7, 1997, reading, in part: “Gresham has my permission to [use] my records & photographs in pre p[ubl]ication of the book ‘General of World War II.” Included but separate from the framed display is an additional United States Fifth Army badge and an ANS from General William P. Yarborough on his personal stationery: “At the request of Gen. Mark Clark I deigned the shoulder patch of the US 5th Army in 1941.” In overall fine condition, with staining to the flag.
