We're very pleased to offer this high grade 9.8 silver foil poster in our auction. The San Francisco Palace of Fine Arts Festival was held August 30 & 31 through September 1 & 2 1968 and was promoted as a Haight-Ashbury Medical Clinic benefit. The Dead Big Brother and Santana were some of the top performers. Only the handbills for this event listed the bands which were appearing on different days of this four day festival (featured in the Art of Rock book on page 205 plates 2.237 through 2.239). All the AOR images feature the same imagery of the Palace interior architecture though this poster has a silver foil paper surface and it does not feature a listing of bands because it was a generic poster to advertise the entire festival.

The bands that appeared and performed during the afternoon / evening of those four days include: THE GRATEFUL DEAD - BIG BROTHER & THE HOLDING COMPANY w/ JANIS JOPLIN - SANTANA - BIG MAMA THORNTON AND THE HOUND DOG BAND featuring HARMONICA GEORGE - H.P. LOVECRAFT - QUICKSILVER MESSENGER SERVICE - SONS OF CHAMPLIN - SAN FRANCISCO MIME TROUPE - CROME SYRCUS - STEVE MILLER BAND - JOHN HANDY AND HIS CONCERT ORCHESTRA - ACE OF CUPS - A. B. SKHY BAND - LINN COUNTY - COUNTRY WEATHER - BLACK PEARL - RANDY BOONE KALEIDOSCOPE with Lights by JERRY ABRAMS - HOLY SEE - THE IBIS - TEMPORARY OPTICS - GARDEN OF DELIGHTS.

This original 1968 silver foil issue is unique and in high quality condition. Clearly the lucky new owner of this poster will take immense joy in owning this MUSEUM PIECE now and this satisfaction is sure to grow with each passing year! Don't know when another one of these will surface so this lot represents a great opportunity!
