Scarce printed document, 8pp. large 4to., Krakow, Apr. 28, 1941, printed in Polish and German, an 'Ordinance Sheet for the Generalgouvernement' setting forth in part regulations issued concerning the 'Jewish residential district in Warsaw'. It reads, in part: '...(1) The head of the district in Warsaw is authorized to issue the orders and measures necessary to organize the Jewish residential district in Warsaw within the framework of the guidelines given by the government of the General Government...(1) The district chief in Warsaw is authorized to carry out the tasks and powers of a mayor in accordance with...the Ordinance on the Administration of Polish Communities of November 28, 1939...for the area of the Jewish residential district in Warsaw to the chairman of the Jewish Council. (2) The chairman of the Judenrat is subject to the supervision of the commissioner for the Jewish residential area in Warsaw and has to follow his instructions. (3) The chairman of the Judenrat draws up his own budget for the administration of the Jewish residential district in Warsaw, which requires the approval of the Government General...' With more financial content. Signed in type by HANS FRANK, Governor General of Poland. Fine. With such restrictions, the Nazis were able to exercise complete financial control over the Warsaw Ghetto.
