The promotion is for Major Ernst Mersmann-Munster to rank of Oberstleutnant, in part: '... I make these original discoveries in the expectation that the named person will fulfill his professional duties conscientiously, true to his oath of duty, and justify the trust placed in him by this promotion. At the same time I guarantee him my special protection...' Co-signed by HERMANN GORING (1893-1946), German politician who began his career as an ace in World War I, rose to become Hitler's right-hand man and head of the Luftwaffe, finally captured and committed suicide on the eve of his execution. Lightly toned throughout, else fine.
