Description
Ancient Central Asia, Indus Valley, Harappan / Mohenjo-Daro Civilization, ca. 2700 to 2000 BCE. A delightful trio of pottery jars, all presenting petite, ring-shaped feet, flared rims, and concave walls skillfully hand-painted in black horizontal bands of linear and geometric motifs. The first vessel is enveloped in a hue of salmon pink with a register of stepped designs below a zigzag pattern. The next dish boasts a creamy white ground with a central vertically striped band flanked by a trio of rings above and below. Last, the most petite jar is pale orange with concentric squares and horizontal striations. Size of largest: 4" Diameter x 2.8" H (10.2 cm x 7.1 cm)

Provenance: ex-John B. Kendrick II collection, Denver, Colorado, USA, acquired 1965 to 1990; John B. Kendrick II was that son of John B. Kendrick, Wyoming governor and US senator

Chipping to rim of white and most petite jars. All have expected surface wear with a few nicks and scratches. Otherwise, all are intact and excellent with nice remaining pigments and earthen deposits.
