Ancient Central Asia, Indus Valley, Harappan / Mohenjo-Daro Civilization, ca. 2700 to 2000 BCE. An attractive pair of redware vessels from the ancient Indus Valley. First, the larger vessel presents a sloped shoulder, a tall, tubular neck, and an annular rim, all sitting upon a ring-form base. A thick, ribbon-form handle connects the top of the neck to the shoulder edge, while black-painted, geometric designs adorn the exterior. Alternatively, the more petite vessel displays a narrow base, a wide hip, a slanted shoulder, a gently corseted neck, and a flared rim. Its exterior boasts a horizontal band of 2 fish below a zigzag motif, all in hues of orange, red, black, and blue. Size of largest: 6.4" Diameter x 7.3" H (16.3 cm x 18.5 cm)
