The head moulded with curved horns, wavy hair and pointed ears, the face with furrowed brow and high-arched
eyebrows, 16cm high

Acquired from l'Art Ancien, Montreal in 1988.
The goat god Pan was worshipped throughout the Greek and Roman world. The cult originated amongst the herdsmen of Arcadia but in later times was associated with Dionysus and his satyrs. There is a similar Tarantine example of a Pan antefix in the British Museum, Museum number 1884,0322.3.
