AMERICAN SCHOOL (19TH CENTURY) FOLK ART PORTRAIT OF A MAN, oil on canvas, possibly a lawyer, subject seated at a table with papers and books, red curtain and window in the background, no signature located. Housed in a period paint-decorated frame. Circa 1830. 34" x 26 1/2" sight, 42" x 34" OA.
Provenance: From an East Coast private collection.
The present portrait toured Japan, Item 93, in an exhibition of American Folk Art, in the 1980s.

Condition
Good overall visual condition with minor craquelure and discoloration. Lined with scattered minor to moderate inpainting to background and subject's chin, cheek, ear, and clothing. Frame with minor wear.
