A George II sterling silver sweetmeat basket, London 1755 by Samuel Herbert and Henry Bailey (reg. 6th Nov 1750)

Of scalloped oval form with a moulded rim upon a splayed collet foot with rope twist rim and pierced slats. The body with pierced interlaced pattern. The pierced opposable swing handle with open work shell junctions. Fully marked underneath and with lion passant to handle.
