A George II silver chinoiserie coffee pot
Samuel Courtauld (I), London 1757
Baluster form, the body richly chased and embossed with flowers amongst scrolls, the sides applied with cast panels, one depicting a lady holding a parasol with a pagoda and palm trees in the background, the other depicting a lady in a tropical landscape with a hammock below a building in the background, the lid with vine leaf finial and gadrooned edge, the spout formed as a bird's beak with Bacchanalian mask junction, with a wood scroll handle, height 25cm, weight total 31.8oz.
