Description

A George III sterling silver tankard, London 1766 by Charles Wright and Thomas Whipham (reg. 24th Oct 1757)

Of baluster from upon a spreading circular foot, the hinged double domed lid, thumbpiece deficient, with moulded hinges upon a double C scroll handle, terminating in a gadrooned scroll moulded terminal. The body with traces of an engraved inscription, flanked each side by later crests of squirrel sejant. Engraved underneath with scratch weight 26”0. Fully marked underneath and to interior of lid.
