Item Details
Description
Ancient Central Asia, Bactria, ca. 2500 to 2250 BCE. A near-miniature rectangular vessel with a flat base, four walls adorned with abstract incised motifs, and a shallow basin. Vessels like this example were perhaps used as containers for ointments, scented oils, or cosmetic make-up, and a pair of perforations along each longer wall suggest this vessel was able to be suspended. Smooth surface textures can be felt across all surfaces. Size: 1.4" L x 1.2" W x 1" H (3.6 cm x 3 cm x 2.5 cm)
