A LARGE SCROLL PAINTING WITH FIVE BUDDHAS, QING
China, 1644-1912. Watercolor, ink and gouache on silk, laid down on paper. Depicting five Buddha figures, each standing on lotus flowers, dressed in colorful robes and backed by a mandorla, the hands forming different mudras, their faces with a benevolent expression and downcast eyes. Mounted on a brocade fabric coated paper scroll.
Provenance: British private collection.
Condition: Extensive traces of wear and age, material loss, staining, tears, touch-ups, and creasing.
