A creamware 'Ruddy-Faced' Toby Jug, circa 1810-20
Of traditional form, grasping a well-potted jug in both hands, a pipe leaning against the chair to his right, his ruddy face unshaven, his jacket, hat and shoes left undecorated save for the moulded details picked out in puce, his waistcoat and breeches in green, 25.7cm high

Condition
There are some chips to the rim of the hat. One is at the back on the inside edge and is about 0.7cm wide x 0.4 high maximum, one is at the front and is about 1cm wide x 0.6cm high maximum. The other two chips flank this chip and are much smaller in size. There are also four small chips to the edge of the base. There is a chip to the underside of his right shoe which is about 1.3cm wide. There is uniform fine surface crazing which has resulted in some brown staining to the hat. There are some firing cracks in the handle that occurred during manufacture.
