A Wood Family Toby Jug, circa 1790
Of traditional form, seated and with a small barrel resting between his feet and a pipe at his side, a brown jug resting on his left knee held by both hands, wearing a blue sponged coat, bright yellow waistcoat and brown breeches, 24.5cm high

Condition
There is a tiny chip to the edge of his right shoe where it protrudes over the base. There is a small chip to the edge of the base to his right. There is some roughness and minor chipping around the rim of the jug that he holds, the traces of white clay on the rim suggesting that the jug was once capped by foaming beer which has become detached and lost. There is are five chips to the inside edge of the brim of the hat, ranging in size from 0.4cm to 1.2cm wide. There is also a chipped area on the rim to his right about 2.5cm long which has an associated fine crack about 1.7cm in length. There are two tiny flakes to the glaze on the outside of the hat to his left. There is typical fine crazing.
