c. 1860s Civil War Era Decorative Ambrotype Brooch, housed in an Ornate 18 karat Gold Bezel, backed by Mother of Pearl, with Original Pinback, Choice Very Fine.
c. 1864 Civil War Era Ambrotype, measuring 1.75" x 1.5" housed in an 18 karat gold frame and backed by Mother of Pearl. The image shows a waist-length Portrait of a distinguished-looking Gentleman in his fine suit and bow tie. Ambrotype photographs were produced between 1854 and 1865, so this image is of the Civil War era. The chemicals used in the photographic process have produced a darker outline around the outer edges of the image near the rim. A highly attractive nice addition to any Civil War era or American photography collection.
