A group of three Chinese fan paintings dating from the late 19th century. All three fans are mounted on a silk backing and framed. The first fan is a watercolor and ink painting on paper of a bird on a flowering branch. It has an inscription and one seal. The second fan is an ink on paper calligraphy with two seals. The third fan is also an ink on paper calligraphy with two seals.

Dimensions are: the third and largest fan measures 9 inches tall X 20 1/2 inches wide, 22.9 cm X 52.1 cm, while the frame measures 16 inches tall X 27 inches wide, 40.6 cm X 68.6 cm. All measurements are approximate.

Condition: The first fan with the bird painting has worm damage and wear to the surface. The second fan has worm damage, loss to the ink, and wear to the surface. And the third fan has worm damage, repairs, and wear to the surface.

Provenance: From Ms. Currier in Central Michigan. Her father imported Chinese items for his store, Crandale Galleries, in Dallas, Texas, from the 1970s to 1999.
